Research- Intertexuality

The concept of intertexuality is where texts are usually formed out of and prior other texts. So a intertexuality in a film we would focus on other and prior texts that have influenced the film in hand.Films would take other texts but make it into something new. Even if it is a little bit alike the one they used as influence.

A example of a film that shows intertexuality is The Matrix. It has texts from Alice in Wonderland, Dark city, Buddhist.

(examples to come. i.e pictures )

Another example of a film that makes reference to another media text in a media product is The Roommate. What happens in the opening sequence is that we are introduced to the surrounding through an establishing shot. Which the cuts to a shopt of a shower head with water pressured out. We are then introduced to a young blond female whom we directly assume is a woman passively the victim. She gets in to have a shower and draws the shower curtain. The camera then slowly zooms out and pans acros the toilet. And we are shown a line of toilet cubicles. The camera then goes to a close of the door and focuses on the door handle as it is slowly pulled down. Then there is a jump cut to the female. We are then shown her in a sexual way. As the follow the camera as it slowly goes down her back spine. She then turns around and the focus is on her tummy and belly piercing. Which forebodes what is to come. The light suddenly turns of.She then puts a towel on and gets out to see whats going on. ........
