Q2. How does your media product represent particular social groups?
Our media product represents particular groups in certain ways. Firstly representation is trying showing the reality of people, places, objects, events, cultural identities and any other abstract concepts. What the media is trying to do is re- present the real world to us. They show some aspects of the real world not exactly all of what it is. Significantly this helps the audience to identify the characters and then is able to judge if they can trust them or not. For example we have in the TV drama eastenders a character called “kat” she is shown to be a promiscuous woman who had a tuff up bringing and never being able to stay faithful. Women mostly are shown in this light.
Our media product mostly represents women. We have one teenager who is shown as weak and vulnerable. She is being chased by another female. Most female teenagers do get in trouble or a typical target for people to easy manipulate hurt and control. The woman shown in our film opening is of a woman who is mentally unstable developed from a personality of jealously. It tends to be females that get jealous and obsessive over things and they have to be the main woman in someone life and certain of attention and get really protective if any one gets onto their territory. They tend to be negative aspects of females. For example all most soaps show women to be dangerous when crossed but at the same time as victims. They are incapable of looking after them selves and that they are dependent on men.
Picture above is to show a stereotype of what females who are shown in thrills to be psychotic
This picture typically represents young females to be vulnerable.
