EVALUATION: Question 5

Q5. How did you attract/address your audience?

How we attracted and addressed our audience. Various aspects appeal to our audience, Mise-En- Scene- Our costumes consists of one character wearing a white dress this is to show a culprit, we assume white as clinical and this empathises with the fact that our character is mentally unstable however white does mean purity and safety which this throws our audience of the scent because innocent the character is not and plus we keep them on suspense as we don’t know what to expect. Also we usually relate to other films and their psychos are dressed in white, there is a relation being made with those who a psycho with the colour white. Also our other character is in everyday pajams. This shows nothing is to go wrong as it’s just someone getting on with every day life. Also pajams kind of show safety and security like the home has which then foreshadows the events to come. We don’t have many props however we use one significant tool. A pen knife. We attract our audience to this because we assume danger with a knife but as the film opening goes on there is no actually use of it. This then leaves our audiences with questioned and still maintaining their interest. The storyline is effective because many females can empathise with this situation where a lover has moved on and has a different partner. It may leave some girls revengeful. The location is in a house and this wheel in our audience because houses are not big and even if there are there is no where to hide and this adds to the drama and creates tension. Sound is very settling, we don’t give much through the sound either which we leave our audience at ease but we want them to continue watching and then to shock them. We use bubble sounds to emphasis the pool scene and make it peaceful. And create a relaxed ambience so we are able to interrupt it and surprise our audience.  “The seeker” was originally suggested by Hannah she thought it would be a good idea because a its all about a female who is seeking revenge and this makes our audience think their in for a action packed adventure. Through our production company we are likely to attract our targeted audience because it’s a local one and teens tend to spread the word fast.

Going back to the rough cut feedback it helped improve our film in order to better appeal to our intended audience. The pool scene was said to be a great unique point to our story line as not much film openings revolve around pools. And this was a good experiment. The suggestion of it being a narrative style really helped because it gives more structure to our product without spoiling it for the audience. We have reached our audience through cinema screening and vimeo.  The general reaction was good our audience found it interesting we started it with a under pool scene and was mesmerised through this. How ever there was props at the background they commented on that made it less effective. All in all they liked our narrative.
